About the event
Masterclass | Recording Session Drumming w/Josh Kanusky
Join us for an unforgettable Masterclass at Drums Etc! Every month, we are hosting a different expert to share their expertise during hands-on educational workshops! This is one of many new ventures for Drums Etc in 2024. Each masterclass will be an intimate, ticketed event where you can ask questions, participate in demos, and get specialized advice and guidance!
Josh Kanusky leads this incredible Masterclass about drumming in recording sessions. Josh will cover the differences in approach versus live performance, the playing techniques that net the best results on recordings, and the importance of sound choices and gear. This Masterclass is perfect for drum set players who plan to record, are currently in the recording process, or would like to elevate their skills for a future project. Josh will be demonstrating techniques live on a drum kit for reference and playing reference tracks as part of the presentation. You aren’t required to bring anything along, just sit-in and have a good time while learning from this fantastic artist!

As a child he listened to the radio, drumming along to every genre of music that came across the airwaves. Although he is self taught, Josh credits his style of drumming to Levon Helm, Bernard Purdie, and James Gadson. Josh was the touring/recording drummer for David Bromberg from 2011-2023. In addition, Josh has played with a variety of artists and currently can be found playing in The Quiet Riders.
